Uganda’s longtime leader Yoweri Museveni has been declared the winner of the 2026 presidential election, extending his 40-year rule amid allegations of fraud, violence, and repression. Opposition leader Bobi Wine has rejected the results calling them ‘fake’, while international observers have raised concerns over internet shutdowns and restrictions on political freedoms.
