Large parts of the US are covered in snow as a result of the winter storm Fern. The storm began on Friday in the southern part of the country and spread northeast over the weekend, affecting more than half the population of the US. The severe winter temperatures have caused widespread power outages, and thousands of flights have been cancelled. Forecasters warn that freezing temperatures could prolong the storm throughout the week.
