Clashes erupted in the Israeli city of Bnei Brak after a group of Haredi Jews attacked two female soldiers, reportedly believing they had been sent for recruitment. Police rescued the soldiers as armed reinforcements were deployed, arresting at least 12 people. Bnei Brak, a major centre of ultra‑Orthodox Judaism, has long opposed conscription into the Israeli army.
