One of my favorite lessons I teach to those who want to share the Gospel is this interview of Saint Peter. The heart of the lesson is using the Scriptural record of Peter’s own words to explain genuine salvation.
I’ve entitled today’s field trip with all of our students in Rome as, Peter vs. The Vatican: Letting the Apostle Speak for Himself. Maybe as you listen you can also mark your Bibles and find an exciting new way to share the plan of salvation with your earnest Roman Catholic neighbors and co-workers.
Here we are on the roof of St. Peter’s, using the Scriptures we can do a mock "interview" with Peter using only his biblical words. Peter’s writings contradict the traditions of the church named after him, affirming salvation is found in "no other name."
Historical Background:
• St. Peter’s Statues: 140 statues of saints adorn the colonnade.
Key Lessons:
1. Scripture Trumps Tradition: Peter’s writings carry more weight than traditions about him.
2. Exclusivity: Salvation is in Jesus alone (Acts 4:12).
