The IDF says Israeli Air Force jets carried out major overnight airstrikes across Tehran, targeting Revolutionary Guard command centers, Basij militia sites, missile launchers and other military infrastructure. During the operation, an Israeli F-35 Adir reportedly shot down an Iranian YAK-130 fighter jet above Tehran — the first known combat air-to-air kill by an F-35 against another manned aircraft — while Israel also confirmed the killing of IRGC Quds Force commander Daoud Alizadeh. More than 4,000 bombs have been dropped on Iran since the campaign began, as regional tensions escalate with Hezbollah rocket fire, Iranian missile attacks on Israel, reports of an Iranian naval vessel sunk near Sri Lanka, oil prices surging after Iran effectively shut the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel preparing to reopen Ben Gurion Airport to bring home stranded citizens.
