“You cannot support those who are setting the world on fire and then complain about the smoke it produces.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, speaking at a PSOE campaign rally in Valladolid on 13 March, reaffirmed Spain’s opposition to the war on Iran. He said the government would deploy all state resources to shield citizens from its fallout, as it had during previous crises such as the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
Sanchez also criticised the far right for backing those “setting the world on fire” while complaining about the consequences, urging them instead to oppose the war so it can end as soon as possible.
