At least one person has been killed in the largest wildfire in Nebraska’s history. The inferno continues to burn completely out of control, with three major blazes scorching roughly 600,000 acres across the central and western parts of the US state.
With none of the fires currently contained, Governor Jim Pillen has declared a state of emergency. National Guard troops and Black Hawk helicopters have been deployed to assist exhausted firefighting crews, as dry, windy conditions threaten to fuel the devastation further
