In the early months of Israel’s war on Gaza, 11 premature babies who were in life-threatening condition and required intensive care were removed from the neonatal units at Al-Shifa Hospital and evacuated outside the besieged enclave.
After approximately two years, the babies returned via the Rafah Border Crossing as their health conditions improved and the crossing reopened.
