Travellers have been warned they may need to change their summer holiday plans amid a looming jet fuel crisis.
The EU energy commissioner told Sky News Europe is in a “very serious crisis”, with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz beginning to affect global fuel supplies.
“Unfortunately, it’s very likely that many people’s holidays will be affected either by flight cancellations or very, very expensive tickets," said Dan Jørgensen, EU commissioner for energy.
“Even if we do everything we can do, if the jet fuel is not there, then it’s not there.”
The head of Italy’s Civil Aviation Authority has told Sky News people should consider spending their summer holidays in their home countries.
