Lucas played a pivotal role in shaping the original Star Wars trilogy and was widely recognized for her contributions to some of Hollywood’s most iconic films, including Taxi Driver and American Graffiti. She was married to Star Wars creator George Lucas from 1969 until their divorce in 1983. In a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, her family tells the outlet that Marcia was “a true trailblazer for women in film and one of the most influential editors in cinematic history.”
