The biggest exchange of fire between the US and Iran in more than two months has cast doubt on the peace talks and Donald Trump’s claims a deal can be reached within days. US forces struck up to 20 locations across southern Iran after a US Apache helicopter was downed on Monday. Iran has responded with a barrage of missiles and drones at US bases in the Gulf, and the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Craig Boswell reports from Washington DC.
