Welcome back to our small group study! John Barnett here. I want you to imagine we are sitting right across the table from each other, with our Bibles open and our notebooks ready.
Today, I am incredibly excited to introduce a class that takes us to the very climax of human history and the ultimate geographical center of God’s plan. If you want to understand the stunning future of the Holy Land, the final global conflict, and the breathtaking reality of the Millennial Kingdom, you absolutely must join us for this lesson. Here are the three monumental truths we will unpack together:
1. The Heavy Stone: Jerusalem as the Center of World History
Scripture References: Zechariah 12:1-6.
Summary of What’s Covered: We kick off the class by looking at the God who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man. Because He created the universe, He perfectly controls the future of Israel. We will see how God has made Jerusalem the absolute center of world history. Even today, the eyes of the world are fixed on Israel, proving God’s promise that He would make Jerusalem a "very heavy stone" for all the nations. People often ask if it is safe to visit Israel, and I tell them it is the safest place in the world because God guarantees it will still be standing at the end of the world!
2. The Final Holocaust and the Cry of the Remnant
Scripture References: Zechariah 13:7-9; Romans 9-11; Joel.
Summary of What’s Covered: Next, we look at the sobering reality of the final siege. The Antichrist, Satan, and the forces of the world will close in on Jerusalem, leading to a tragic final holocaust where two-thirds of the Jewish people in the land will perish. But when the surviving one-third—the believing remnant, including the 144,000—realize they have absolutely no earthly help left, they will look up to heaven. In their most desperate moment, they will cry out to their true Messiah, Savior, and Jesus. That exact cry of faith is the trigger for the Second Coming of Christ.
3. Ground Zero and the Millennial Eden
Scripture References: Zechariah 14:1-9; Jude 1:14; Revelation 6-19.
Summary of What’s Covered: Finally, we witness the glorious rescue! Jesus will touch down exactly where He ascended: the Mount of Olives, which is ground zero for redemptive history. And He is not coming alone. Quoting the ancient prophecy of Enoch found in Jude, we will see that the Lord is returning with "myriads of saints"—which includes the entire raptured church. We will explore the incredible Millennial changes that follow: the total annihilation of God’s enemies, the rolling back of the curse, the removal of pollution and poisonous animals, and the earth transforming back into a lush Garden of Eden. Christ will reign in perfect justice over a world of believing humans who will gather three times a year to celebrate the Old Testament feasts.
