A Jacksonville-based P-3 patrol aircraft detected a suspected drug-smuggling vessel in the Caribbean Sea on June 11 and alerted Joint Interagency Task Force South and the U.S. Coast Guard. Responding Coast Guard assets intercepted the fast-moving boat after it stopped following an aerial overflight. Authorities seized approximately 3,960 pounds of marijuana and detained two Ecuadorian suspects in the operation.
