A man allegedly set a palm tree on fire near a swap meet, igniting a brush fire that grew to roughly five acres and threatened nearby homes on May 25 in La Presa, California. Residents in the area were briefly evacuated as flames spread toward residential streets. The suspect fled on foot, jumping fences and running through a nearby riverbed before being taken into custody a short time later, authorities said.
