The Met Office has extended its red warning for extreme heat until Friday evening.
It’s the first time in the history of the current weather warnings system that red warnings have been issued for extreme heat for three consecutive days in the UK.
It comes after June temperature records were broken for both day and night this week with highs of 36.1C in Gosport, Hampshire on Wednesday, followed by the hottest June night on record.
