Ertugrul Sengunalp is a one of the last Devdahs — master artisans who transform raw silk into thread using a centuries-old technique that originated in Bursa.
To perform this craft, Sengunalp must run around nearly 20 kilometres each day — a feat he’s been completing for over 50 years.
His lifelong commitment to safeguarding this heritage recently earned him the title of “Living Human Treasure.”
