Welcome back to our small group! John Barnett here, sitting at a tiny, tipping plastic table on the road, living out of my suitcase, but absolutely thrilled to launch into Week 50 of our study. We are diving into my favorite book of all: Revelation 1.
In this class, based on our session "What Happened When Jesus Met John On Patmos", we will unpack three life-altering truths:
1. The Circle of One: Walking with the Beloved Disciple
Scripture References: John 21; Gospel of John.
Summary: We’ll study the Apostle John—the fisherman who leaned on Jesus, cared for Mary, and pastored a 50,000-member mega-church in Ephesus. As the last living link to Christ in the flesh, John was uniquely chosen to finish the Word of God.
2. The Prophetic Tapestry: God’s 800-Quote Master Key
Scripture References: Revelation 1.
Summary: We will discover how Revelation acts as God’s own interpretation of the entire Bible, weaving together over 800 Old and New Testament quotations to show how all Scripture fits together to guide us through these darkening days.
3. The Patmos Encounter: Listening to the Unveiled Son
Scripture References: Revelation 1; Matthew 17 (The Transfiguration).
Summary: We will travel to the island of Patmos where Jesus met John on the Lord’s Day. Just like at the Mount of Transfiguration, God’s message is simple: focus entirely on Christ.Grab your journal and your MacArthur Study Bible, and let’s seek the Lord’s face together!
