An ICE agent fatally shot 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston on July 7 while he was driving to work. Salgado’s son said his father was working toward a work permit after 35 years in the country, and that he worked hard to send his three sons to college.
The incident has triggered protests, with more than 1,000 people marching on July 8 chanting “ICE out of Houston”. Demonstrators, including the victim’s family, are demanding an independent investigation and the release of all video footage.
