Demonstrators gathered across Italy on July 21 to protest after the death of 42-year-old Moroccan immigrant Abderrahim Fakir, who died during a police arrest in Bologna. Fakir, who arrived in Italy as a child and had lived there for over 30 years with a regular residence permit, died on July 19 while being restrained by officers following an alleged psychiatric crisis. Prosecutors have opened an investigation involving police and emergency responders.
