The war in Iran has cost $37.5 billion to US so far, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told lawmakers on Tuesday, nearly $8 billion more than the previous public estimate.
Hegseth said the figure included projected costs through September 30.
He appeared before the Senate Appropriations Committee alongside Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Caine, marking his first public questioning by lawmakers since the US military resumed operations against Iran earlier this month.
