Richard Carapaz delivered one of the rides of the Tour to claim a spectacular Stage 18 victory, and Tejay van Garderen and Brent Bookwalter break down exactly how the EF Education-EasyPost leader made it happen, why his timing was perfect, and what this emotional win means to both Carapaz and his team. They also dive into Mads Pedersen’s huge day in the green jersey competition after adding valuable points at the intermediate sprint, assess his growing advantage, and discuss whether he can carry the green jersey all the way to Paris.
The biggest storyline, however, may be unfolding behind the yellow jersey. UAE Team Emirates-XRG suffered a major setback as Brandon McNulty abandoned the race, while several teammates showed signs of illness and finished well behind the main contenders, raising serious questions about the health of Tadej Pogačar’s support squad heading into the Tour’s decisive final mountain stages.
Plus, we look ahead to one of cycling’s most iconic climbs as the Tour returns to Alpe d’Huez. Can the remaining GC contenders take advantage of a weakened UAE Team Emirates-XRG if illness continues to spread, or will Tadej Pogačar once again prove untouchable? Tejay and Brent break down the tactics, the key contenders, and what to watch for on a stage that could define the final outcome of the 2026 Tour de France. #NBCSports #TourDeFrance #Cycling #BeyondThePodium
