The political pressure campaign against Special Counsel Jack Smith has now landed in the Justice Department, with the next move belonging to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. This week, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan referred Smith for possible criminal prosecution, accusing him of misleading Congress about lawmakers’ text messages obtained during the Trump investigation. After Trump publicly endorsed going after Smith, now the spotlight is on Blanche as to whether he will see this as evidence of a crime or just a political demand.
