Sixty Palestinian detainees were released by Israel and arrived in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) marking the largest single group released under the ongoing ceasefire prisoner exchange. Families gathered at Nasser Hospital to welcome the detainees.
The ICRC said it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released Palestinian detainees since 2023, while reiterating that it has not been granted access to Palestinians held in Israeli detention since October 2023 and renewing calls for information on their whereabouts and conditions. Palestinian prisoner groups say more than 9,600 Palestinians remain in Israeli prisons, up from around 5,250 before Israel’s genocidal war.
