A dramatic fire whirl, also known as a ‘smokenado,’ was spotted as the Widemouth 2 Fire burned in Utah’s Millard County, US on July 28. The rare phenomenon was captured on video by Millard County Fire Warden as evacuation orders were issued for nearby residents. According to the US Forest Service, fire whirls can produce wind damage comparable to weak or moderate tornadoes.
