Kamri Peterson is getting a pair of dance shoes in the next size up. The World ProAm champion ballroom dancer—who competed as a pro on Dancing With the Stars: Juniors in 2018—was announced as a member of Dancing With the Stars’ season 35 dance troupe during an appearance at the inaugural DWTS Con in Palm Springs, Calif., Aug. 2. As a member of the troupe, Peterson, 18, won’t be a pro partner of Ciara Miller, Jackson Olsen, Maura Higgins, Guillermo Rodriguez or any yet-to-be-announced season 35 celebrity contestant, but she will perform in the show’s opening numbers, elaborate choreographed pieces and transitional moments during each episode, as Hailey Bills, Onye Stevenson, Jaxon Willard and Carter Williams did during season 34. Peterson reacted to the news while speaking with US Weekly at ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Con in Palm Springs, stating, “I really don’t think I’ve ever been so happy in my entire life,” and describing the news as “surreal.” Peterson will not be the only DWTS alum joining for season 35, as the eventual winner of the ongoing season of ‘Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro’ will join the competition alongside a celebrity partner.
