After primary night, Abdul El-Sayed pivots to unity message

The progressive former public health official Abdul El-Sayed joins Morning Joe as votes are still being counted in the Michigan Democratic Senate primary race. The likely nominee ran a fierce campaign against the moderate Michigan Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens. But when asked about turmoil within the Democratic party between the progressive left and establishment moderates, El-Sayed sticks to a message of unity. Sidestepping the topic of Democratic infighting, El-Sayed tells Morning Joe the election is about Michigan residents “who deserve to know that their roads are competent” and to “know that their kids go to great schools.”
