David DeLuise—who played Selena Gomez’s dad in Wizards of Waverly Place—said the Disney show’s sequel series Wizards Beyond Waverly Place "would not be over if the OG wizards were really there." After the revival aired its third and final season finale Aug. 4, DeLuise commented under an Entertainment Tonight Instagram video featuring Gomez and David Henrie, adding, “Missed opportunity.” DeLuise reprised his role as Russo family patriarch Jerry in two episodes of the sequel, while Maria Canals-Barrera—Theresa—also returned for multiple guest appearances. Gomez and Henrie served as executive producers and reprised their original roles in the series. Despite his criticism, DeLuise has remained close with his former castmates, recently calling a February get-together “the best reunion ever.” E!
