Minnesota’s Superior National Forest received a $10 million grant in 2024 for wildfire prevention work. Then DOGE delayed the funding.
Now, parts of the area are burning.
“Could those firefighters have been doing something else? Could that fire have been stopped in less acres?” asks Aaron Kania, a former wildland firefighter who is now a Democratic candidate for state office in Minnesota, on "Connect with Jacob Soboroff."
Kania says the outcome “would’ve been better had that work been done before the fires."
