More than 90 countries attended a memorial ceremony in Nagasaki marking the 81st anniversary of the US atomic bombing.
Participants observed a moment of silence at 11:02 a.m., the exact time the plutonium bomb exploded over the city on August 9, 1945.
The bombing killed an estimated 70,000 people. Three days earlier, an atomic bomb dropped by the US on Hiroshima had killed around 140,000.
