A lightning strike triggered explosions at two gas tanks at the Explorer Pipeline facility in Glenpool, Oklahoma, on August 17, causing a massive fireball and sending thick, black smoke into the sky. Emergency crews evacuated nearby businesses and residences, while local schools were placed under a shelter-in-place order as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. No injuries were reported, and Explorer Pipeline said three tanks containing natural gasoline were involved in the fire.
