Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs on US imports starting September 8, following new 50% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
Carney said Canada would match Washington’s tariffs “dollar for dollar,” targeting sectors including steel, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, and electronics. The move follows failed trade negotiations between the two countries and threatens to further strain economic ties between the long-standing allies.
