Simon Cowell is embarking on the road to recovery. The ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge will be taking some much-needed time off of work in the coming weeks due to a scheduled surgery on his back, his publicist recently confirmed. "Obviously medical matters are private," Cowell’s rep told ‘Entertainment Weekly’ in an Aug. 24 statement, "but it’s routine and he will be back in a few weeks." Of course, going under the knife means the 66-year-old will be absent from the ‘AGT’ panel for several of the NBC reality competition series’ upcoming season 21 episodes while Sofía Vergara, Mel B and Howie Mandel hold down the judges’ table. E! News has reached out to a rep for Cowell but did not receive an immediate response. The ‘American Idol’ alum’s surgery needs stem from a serious 2020 accident in which Cowell—dad to 12-year-old son Eric Cowell with fiancée Lauren Silverman—broke his back in several places after falling from an e-bike at his Malibu home.
