The Thai military said about 51 coordinated arson and incendiary attacks took place on August 22 across Thailand’s southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala. The attacks involved small bombs, fires and property damage, including a 7-Eleven store in Pattani. Three civilians were injured, while no clashes with security forces were reported. The violence occurred in the predominantly Muslim region, where separatist groups have sought greater autonomy for decades.
