Footage released by Nepal Police shows individuals allegedly stealing earrings from a person who died in flash floods and mudslides in the country.
Police said two suspects were arrested in connection with the alleged theft.
Search and rescue operations, backed by helicopters and drones, continued on Friday as the death toll from devastating flash floods along the Nepal-China border rose to 579, with more than 1,900 people still missing, including hundreds of foreigners.
While scientists caution against directly attributing an individual glacier collapse to the climate crisis, they say rising temperatures are increasing stress on glaciers and contributing to their retreat worldwide.
Nepal, which produces less than 0.1 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, is described as paying the price for emissions from major global polluters.
