Months after Alix Earle and Ashtin Earle’s mom Alisa Maniaci was diagnosed with breast cancer, the sisters got tested for the BRCA2 gene during ‘Earle Meets World.’ In an emotional scene, genetic counselor Pankti Doshi revealed that both sisters tested positive for the genetic change in BRCA2. After hearing the results, Alisa tearfully apologized to her daughters, believing she had passed the gene down to them, but Alix, 25, and Ashtin, 23, quickly reassured their mom. The family explained at the premiere of ‘Earle Meets World’ Sept. 1 that they wanted to share those raw, personal moments with viewers. In fact, as they were learning the results, "I didn’t really think much about the cameras," Alix told E!’s Erin Lim Rhodes, "because we were so focused on each other and just being there and supporting each other."
