Protesters view the far-right Madrid Forum, which brought together figures including Argentine President Javier Milei and Kast, as an alignment with oppressive and imperialist interests, with protesters chanting that President Kast is "just like Pinochet". Many analysts and observers call Kast’s administration Chile’s most far-right since Augusto Pinochet’s military dictatorship. Kast’s father was a German-born military officer and Nazi Party member who escaped US custody near the end of WWII and later immigrated to Chile, where his family became highly influential in national politics.
