Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its naval forces seized a U.S. underwater drone near the Strait of Hormuz, but the U.S. military said the vessel had malfunctioned more than a day earlier. U.S. Central Command spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins described it as an older, defective model that carried no sensitive data or classified sonar or radar equipment. Iran described the submersible as a modern, unmanned U.S. submarine, while U.S. officials said operations in the area were continuing.
