Latvia is on the frontline in dealing with new threats to NATO from Russia — from to cyberattacks, sabotage, espionage, through to drone incursions and other suspected gray-zone operations. Latvia’s Presdient Edgars Rinkevics s says what the West needs to reconsider what hybrid warfare means. Rinkevics told DW that when it comes to dialogue with Russia, is not clear that Moscow wants to actually talk. He also added that Europe needs to be a part of a peace process for Ukraine. “Europe needs to be at the table, not on the table.” But he added that he believes the Kremlin seems more interested in a Yalta-style, big power recognition of its sphere of influence.
