A Ukrainian drone struck the sanctioned Russian-flagged oil tanker Armada Leader in the Black Sea on September 10 after evading fire from a Russian helicopter attempting to intercept it, according to Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces commander Robert Brovdi. Footage released September 12 shows the drone maneuvering through the helicopter’s gunfire before hitting the vessel. Brovdi said the strike was part of the “MoLoChKa” operation targeting ships involved in Russian maritime transport, claiming Ukrainian forces have struck 285 vessels since the campaign began. He said shadow-fleet tankers carrying Russian oil help generate revenue that could support Moscow’s war effort.
