“It’s time that we paid attention to the Rohingyas”
It’s now been almost a decade since 1.3 million Rohingya Muslims were forced to flee persecution in Myanmar and sought refuge in Bangladesh.
In his first address to the #UNGA since the democratic transition in his country, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called on the international community to provide greater humanitarian support for the Rohingyas and defend their right to return.
Ambassador Irene Zubaida Khan told TRT World that her country supports the genocide case against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice, whose final ruling is expected to be published in the coming months.
