Jagan Chapagain, head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, says the devastation in Sudan and the Ebola outbreak in the DRC are among the world’s most neglected humanitarian crises.
“Some of these crises need global solidarity. They need investment purely for the sake of humanity, but also because if people are not supported where they are, the crisis just multiplies, and the response later on requires much bigger investment,” Chapagain said
Chapagain’s warning comes as the number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) rose above 8,000 for the first time in the Central African country’s ongoing outbreak, according to government data released Monday.
