Christa Pike, the only woman on Tennessee’s death row, appeared to still be breathing after two lethal injection attempts Wednesday night. She was sent to a nearby hospital and her current condition is unknown.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has since paused executions in the state and has ordered an investigation into Pike’s execution attempt.
