The ‘Faith and Hope’ (Fe y Esperanza) caravan—having grown to over 600 migrants from Central America, South America, and the Caribbean since starting in Honduras on September 20—has resumed its trek toward the U.S. border despite heavy rain from Storm Rachel in the Mexican Pacific. While U.S. and Mexican authorities are coordinating to disperse the group through strict enforcement, arrests, and deportations, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has vowed that the group will be blocked from entering the United States, noting that their asylum claims in Mexico under a first-nation agreement bar them from seeking asylum stateside.
