A 15-year-old Portland student is facing 19 charges after allegedly mixing chemicals inside a crowded high-school cafeteria and releasing toxic gas.
More than 100 people were evaluated, at least seven reportedly needed medical care and the teenager was critically injured. Investigators say searches uncovered chemicals, laboratory equipment and disturbing material involving explosives, violence and mass homicide.
The suspect now faces attempted-murder and domestic-terrorism charges. Reports reference nihilistic material and possible links to the extremist network 764, but authorities have not established a left-wing political motive.
