Tens of thousands of protesters demanding better schooling conditions are on the streets, clashing with police across France. Police fired tear gas towards protesters to disperse the crowd in what is now the biggest day of demonstrations so far. Trade unions say around half a million people attended the protests which stemmed from last month’s protests over understaffing at a Parisian high school. Around 2,000 schools were shut or partially closed this week, as French President Macron summons top ministers for talks over the problems facing the education system.
