Indian police detained scores of protesters and leaders in New Delhi on Oct 10 as the youth-led “Cockroach” movement rallied for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration targeted revisions to voter lists that critics say could benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling party, while authorities enforced a security lockdown and warned the protest had not been authorized.
