“They are Jewish terrorists.”
A Washington Post photojournalist was attacked by Israeli settlers during the olive harvest in Abu Falah, in the occupied West Bank, on Friday.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Heidi Levine, who is in stable condition, said she was beaten for 10 minutes by a group of “Jewish terrorists” who smashed her equipment and kicked her “probably 50 times”.
On Friday, dozens of Israeli settlers burned olive trees and threw rocks at Palestinians in a coordinated attack that left at least six people injured, according to Palestinian Red Crescent first responders.
The attack continued after Israeli forces arrived, with soldiers firing tear gas towards Palestinians.
“We are outraged by this unwarranted attack on a journalist doing her job and urge a thorough investigation and follow-through from authorities”, the Washington Post said in a statement.
“Israel’s failure to ensure accountability is emboldening those who attack journalists, while the international community’s continued silence sends a dangerous message that these violations can continue unchecked,” said Sara Qudah, MENA regional director for the Committee to Protect Journalists
