Truck drivers blocked roads and port entrances across southern Italy on October 19, protesting fuel prices that have reached around €2.30 (2.6 USD) per litre. The demonstrations, which began in Sicily, spread to Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia and Campania, disrupting traffic and slowing deliveries to some supermarkets.
