The Trump Administration is continuing to peddle misinformation surrounding noncitizen voters in California’s elections – taking it so far as to push L.A.’s top election official to investigate. The Department of Justice sent a flash drive to Dean Logan, the Registrar-Recorder and County Clerk for Los Angeles County, to look into the citizenship status of a sample of registered voters under a tight 48-hour deadline: “What’s happening here is performative. I think it is intended to have a chilling effect. It’s intended to intimidate and to try and get people in positions like mine to take actions that, quite frankly, we don’t believe are aligned with state or federal law,” Logan told Jacob Soboroff.
