Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado made a surprise return to the country after nearly a year abroad, meeting with supporters at a church in Lara. Her return comes amid growing friction with the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump, who has continued to back interim President Delcy Rodríguez and recently suggested it is too soon for democratic elections. Speaking from the White House, Trump stated he was unaware of Machado’s return and indicated ongoing U.S. support for Rodríguez.
